My marbled porcelain bowls are made using the traditional Japanese nerikomi technique, where multiple coloured porcelains are combined to create intricate patterns that run all the way through the clay body.

This is a technique I truly love, and each piece is special to me — and hopefully to you too. I colour all my porcelain myself using stains (and a respirator!). The clay is then rolled out very thinly to celebrate the natural translucency and delicate, see‑through qualities of porcelain.

After drying carefully so they don’t warp, the bowls are fired to 1060°C. Once out of the kiln, I glaze them with my homemade transparent glaze and fire them again to 1220°C. After a slow three‑day cool down (Betty takes her time), I add a luxurious 24‑karat gold lustre and fire once more to 730°C to achieve the final shimmering finish.

Each Luxurious Nerikomi Porcelain Bowl is completely individual — no two are ever the same — making them perfect as a unique gift or a beautiful treat for yourself.

Packaging and shipping  I am a packaging magpie and will reuse and recycle bubble wrap, cardboard, and all other materials suitable for making sure your item will arrive in pristine condition.

Environmental concerns: I use electricity generated from solar panels on my roof to supplement my kiln and are on a tariff that is 100% green energy.
