This handmade birdbath is designed to stay outside all winter. Because I have cats, I couldn’t test it in my own garden, but I gave one to a friend and we tried it out through the entire winter with great success. It’s finished in my layered stormy blue glaze combination and comes with a strong outdoor cord so it can be hung up easily. You can adjust the length by untying the knot and retying it to suit your space.
 
During my testing phase, I realised that normal garden string deteriorates far too quickly. For these birdbaths, I’ve used a durable cord normally found on outdoor children’s play equipment. In my own garden, I’ve have handmade planters hanging with this material for over five years and they’re still absolutely fine, so I’m confident it’s safe, weather resistant, and long lasting.
 
If you have a sheltered or undercover area, you can also use this piece as a bird feeder. But I do offer lidded birdfeeder designs as well.  Its a lovely, functional piece for any wildlife friendly garden — handmade and frost resistant.

Environmental considerations
My kiln is partly powered by electricity from solar panels on my roof, and I am on a 100 percent green energy tariff. The clay is sourced in the UK and my glaze materials come from local suppliers.
