This is a more common design, that I have tested out and as with the others, this birdfeeder is also designed to stay outside all winter. The fundamental differenence is the "house look" compared to the more table like design of the other feeders.
Because I have cats, I couldn’t test it in my own garden, but I gave one to a friend and we tried it out through the entire winter with great success. With our frequent rain, I added a lid to keep the food as dry as possible. The feeder is finished in my layered stormy blue glaze combination and comes with a strong outdoor cord so it can be hung up easily.
During my testing phase, I realised that normal garden string deteriorates far too quickly. For these birdfeeders, I’ve used a durable cord normally found on outdoor children’s play equipment. In my own garden, I’ve have handmade planters hanging with this material for over five years and they’re still absolutely fine, so I’m confident it’s safe, weather resistant, and long lasting.
Its a lovely, functional piece for any wildlife friendly garden — handmade and naturally frost resistant due to the stoneware ceramic.
Please note that there are some very small glaze fault with this piece that do not impact on the actual function (please see images) and I have priced it accordingly.
